CV Feedback

Overall, I thought that my CV presentation went quite well. I presented my CV in a progress group (a group of 5) and I spoke about the job that I'm applying for, why I think I'm suitable for that job, the colour theory, typeface theory, shape theory and gestalt principles that I used. As well as talking about the content that was included in my CV and my overall design. What went well in my presentation is that I spoke well on each topic and went into detail on each section, explaining what and why I used it. This included the images used, my interests, the anagolous colour scheme, the similarity in my work for the gestalt theory and the arrows that I used for shape theory. I was then asked after my presentation 'Howcome I didn't use green on my CV?' However, I argued back with a response saying that blue and purple were the better choice as blue can be known as an instructional colour and purple can be known as a creative colour and this is what I went with in the end as I thought it was better and that it made more sense doing it this way. If I was to improve my CV for future reference, then I would maybe use the 'stroke tool' on my writing/font to make the writing/font stand out more and it may look more appealing because of this. I also would try and cover up the rest of the 'white/blank space that I had'. If I was to improve on my interview for future reference, then I will aim to try and be less nervous and to have more confidence the next time. Overall, I think that I have met the brief and completed the assignment to my best standard.

Project Connect Poster

These are two Project Connect posters that I created on Photoshop. The first image that you can see is my first draft and the second image is my final edition one as during my spare time, as you can see, I found ways that I could perhaps improve my original poster. This was adding a more detailed and colourful background than just plain white and editing my text so it lined up better and made 'YOU' stand out more than it was previously as that is the main factor of this quote.

For the colour theory in my poster, I mainly chose blue. This is because blue can be known as an instructional colour and the aim of my poster is to be instructional as I want people to read this quote and then do what it says - which is 'Do More Of What Makes You Happy'. By me using lots of different shades of blue, I showed a monographic theme throughout my poster. However, I also used the rainbow colours as it follows the Project Connect colours and theme. To me, this was key and important to do as it simply makes sense to do as this is what the topic is about so I'll try and follow it in as many ways as I can. I not only followed it by the colours of the logo, I also added the logo itself on the poster mulitple times in each corner of the page. This to me just tells the audience what the poster is about or at least what it involves.

For the typeface theory in my poster, I used mainly one font which was called 'Inbox' that I downloaded from 'DaFonts'. This is because it looked a fun font to use and it was appealing to the eye so I thought I'd use this font for those two reasons. Surely if I thought the personality of the font was fun and it was appealing to the eye (with of course colour) then surely other people would too. I used a sans serif font ('Inbox') as sans serif fonts are usually less stricter and less professional than serifs are, but as said above I wanted to use it as it was more fun and creative. I have used tracking and leading in this poster as I have the same amount of space between each letter and I also don't have any ascenders or descenders overlapping each other. This is what you want as you want clear and readable text for your audience to see/read.

For the shape theory in my poster, I incorporated one big circle and many little triangles behind it. I used shape theory as for one it made my work look arguably better, but two to make it more presentable to whoever reads it. The theory behind a circle is that something is complete or it is represented as a community - for example bringing people together and in a way, that is what my poster could do! The theory behind a triangle is that it shows power, stability and creativity - and creativity is something that I like to be associated with for my poster/posters. I am trying to communicate with the audience by showing them what I have produced, the creativity that has gone into it and the most important thing is the message which I want them to live/go by in life.

For the gesalt principles in my poster, I have used similarity and symmetry in my work. I have used similarity as a high percentage of my poster is triangles and similarity is when our brains see an image which for example is all the same thing going on in the image but we notice the colour first - due to it standing out more - and this is what the triangles are doing, there's lots of them and they are all coloured. I have used symmetry in my work also as, as well as the triangles I have used a circle and a logo in each corner of the page. If you don't know what symmetry is then symmetry is a mirrored effect, for example, the Taj Mahal. As you can see, their would technically be a semi circle on each side of the page if it was mirrowed due to the big circle in the middle and the Project Connect logo's as you can see, mirrored each other which in my opinion I liked as it represented the brand and it also looks like a good design. The main design that I am trying to convey to the viewer is the circle in the middle of the page as the circle has the quote in it, which is the most important thing in the poster as it's what I am trying to get across to the viewer as I want them to by inspired by it.
